Currently the SH-60Fs are being refurbished in the United States so that they can be sold to customers. Among the customers is Tunisia, which wants to buy twelve refurbished SH-60F for $24 million each. The Coast Guard must, reports the specialized American website, « shephard.co.uk, » renovate nine SH-F60 aircraft according to the same standards as other MH-60T for $18 million. A new MH-60T would cost approximately $40 million. The SH-60 is a naval version of the U.S. Army’s Black Hawk. It is a ten ton helicopter that can carry three tons of personnel or equipment and can reach a cruising speed of 270 km/h for three hour missions. The SH-60F can be fitted with anti-submarine missiles or equipment for minesweeping.
