La Sivolière is a well-kept secret among those in the know, and not without good reason. The chalet’s elegant, sophisticated atmosphere permeates every inch of this delightful log and stone building that’s steeped in Savoie tradition in a universe as indulgently luxurious as a cashmere shawl. The family-style friendliness beautifully complements the range of modern amenities here. By Alexandra Chassin
This is an intimate and truly authentic place to spend a holiday. La Sivolière is not a standard five star resort like others, but an impeccable blend of authenticity, style and panache. The chalet is tucked away among the pine trees high up in the mountains
at Courchevel, and has recently been given an updated look overseen by Tristan Auer that has preserved its Savoie heritage. It’s a look that blends tradition with modernity and elegance with comfort – without succumbing to the more obvious fashion trends in winter resorts. The interior architecture is inspired. The old woodwork is still in place, and the rooms have retained their trademark welcoming warmth with little furnishing details that radiate contemporary sophistication including mirror lamps, silk lampshades, and black-lacquered surfaces with sandblasted wood bases that blend beautifully with the elegant simplicity of aged floorboards and thick, amber-coloured fabrics. The view across the snow-heavy pine trees is divine, and the muted chestnut and grey tones perfectly complement the relaxing, colour-rich ambience. There’s a supremely relaxing spa and the whole place is filled with little nooks and crannies ideal for relaxed conversational huddles. The cosy rooms mostly feature tones of warm wood and soft fabrics scattered with soft cushions. La Sivolière is the ultimate in relaxation and comfort without the fuss. This place really hits the sweet spot!
