The new generation Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT), the Kannad Aviation Integra 406 GPS ELT, made its first appearance at Cascais. The INTEGRA received an award from France’s leading business groups, is a new step forward in the development of ELT technology and aircraft safety equipment. The Integra operates on the international 406 MHz satellite search and rescue system and includes an internal GPS and 406MHz, plus an internal battery. The award given jointly by France’s MEDEF, OSEO, Croissance Plus, PactePme et IE club in September, was a result of Kannad’s collaboration with Eurocopter in recognition of their joint development of the Integra, their innovation strategy and their technological leadership in the distress beacon market. This system is able to transmit and send both of the unique identification and GPS position in case of crash landing or ditching aircraft. It features the ability for the pilot or crew to remove the ELT from downed aircraft, as it will continue to transmit its lifesaving message even once removed from the airframe.
